We had trip day every Wednesday, I had the older girls so we had a couple shopping days and when the weather was bad we went to the cinema. Although, we went to Montreal for 3 days staying in a hotel and it was bliss to have a comfy bed =) By far the best trip, even thought there were 22 15yr olds to keep an eye on!

I'm telling you guys, the best trips aren't ice cream and cinemas, and going to theme parks...the best trips are climbing mountains bigger than Ben Nevis (highest peak in Britain), canoeing distances of up to 30 miles, in all kinds of weather. Making dinner over a stove, biulding fires, swimming in mountain streams where the water is freeeeeeeeezing. Seeing black bears climbing trees to steal food from peoples camps. Sleeping in the great outdoors under the stars. The absolute freedom of being lost within the ferocious nature of the world is the greatest feeling ever.

These are what make a great trip!

I was at an underprivileged camp, therefore we couldn't afford to take the kids anywhere.

But i was with the second oldest group of boys -13 and 14 year olds- and we went camping up in the Wisconsin Mountains, canoed and swam in the Mississippi, star gazed, sunset hikes, seeing wild deer, eagles, making Mountain Mac and Cheese and just letting them see that being outside is cool too.

Im going to an underprivaliged camp this year, my first year at a camp.... any advice or words of wisdom? lol

omg yes. totally agree. two weeks, fifty miles to the nearest town. absolute peace. Turning into a complete ape from the lack of shaving, campfires at night, 20 mile hikes during the day. The amazing feeling of knowing you survived in the wilderness for two weeks with no support. its awesome. Oh and hearing wolves howling just outside your camp and seeing a moose swimming!!
