Post YOUR JOB AT CAMP (COUNSELORS)
What does your job consist of at camp? Are you exclusively a general counselor, or are you instructing / assisting with an activity? Or do you have both counseling and instructional duties?

If you are teaching, how many activities do you teach? Do you teach more than one activity in a day? Do you teach different activities in different sessions?

I'm just a gc, basically....I'm a big kid. Get to go round all the activities and can take part in them - it's just more optional for me lol. Seriously, sometimes us counsellors get more excited than the kids!

Interesting to see all the different jobs you have at camp! I'll definitely be referring next year's applicants to this thread so they can see the diversity of camp life!.... 8)

Swim Teacher / Lifeguard / Run lake Adventures / General Councellor.

Pretty much everything but being a lifeguard takes up most my time along with swim teaching. 3 out of 5 peroids at least by the lake or pool.

I had to rotate from a camps day camp and res camp.

At the day camp I worked from 8-4/5 and spent all day teaching tennis lessons to kids as young as 4! that wasn't that fun as it was "hella" hot on the tennis court.

at res camp - i'd change every 2 weeks - well i was supposed to but 7 weeks day , 3 weeks res camp.

Res camp - I taught four periods tennis, one volleyball and one animal care, I'd have one free. I'd be a GC so I'd just help out with a cabin a few times a day and look after them all day and night when the cabin councellor had a day off.

This was my second year at an Adults Special Needs camp and had been given the job title of 'supervisor' but to be honest most people did everything! No-one at my camp is an activity specialist so we take it in turns to run activities, help with the kitchen staff etc! We literally are busy all day from 6am until our campers are in bed at 10pm!
