Post Medical Form
I have just been told that it's going to cost £90 for my GP to fill in this form! £90! Has anyone else had to pay this much?

Also they said they could do it for £30 if the Practice Nurse did it but I had to have something in writing from Camp America to say that they could do this. Does anyone know anything about this?

Cheers

Mine was £50 but its a uni health centre and when i asked why they chaged so much they said its cos they get asked to fill in so many. I looked on the price list and a medical form was £30 but as soon as it had camp america written on it then it went up to £50. not fair :'(

it really annoys me they think they can rip off students because they know they can! GPs get paid more than enough to nothing anyway!

My Dr at home would have done it for £20 but the hassle of re-registering at home just to do it and then re-registering at uni after the summer, it just wasn't worth it all. SO my mum went halves on it with me. They're evil. The uni Dr's said they'd recently updated their prices to keep up with the Dr's near by. I get my prescriptions free cos i'm a poor student! And then they think i can easily afford £50 for a tick box form i could quite easily do myself. Grrrr!!

I must be one lucky Banned Word then...
It didn't cost me a single euro! I just made an appointment with my doctor's office to fill out the form (I actually had to help her with some of the english terms, good thing I'm a pre-med then ) and sat there while she filled it out and walked away again!

mine's £17, £90 is ridiculous! Maybe they think you want to have a medical rather than them just filling out a medical form - could be the reason why the price is so high?

Hmm. Could be..
Though medicals are often covered by your health insurance.

I had a potential problem at the whole practice of filling out a medical form: it isn't allowed in the Netherlands! Dutch GPs are bound by their ethics code and rules against the vouching for somebody's health. There can always be something there you haven't diagnosed yet, so it's not ethical to even fill out a form like we had to.
I knew that, going into the doc's office, and told her as much, but also told her that it was for an american program. Then she smiled, and told me they make exceptions for foreign countries... Boy, was I glad! Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to send the nice people at CA medical their form

You shouldnt have to pay anything for you medical form. Its just a standard health check and they fill in an additional form. Thats what you pay national insurance for!!

Mine cost £10, for the form and a letter about a medical condition as well. My tip is not to tell them its for Camp America until you get in there and to TAKE PHOTOCOPIES once it is filled in!

I phoned up the other day as I needed to get another form filled in as my camp won't accept the Camp America one and as soon as I mentioned Camp America they said £25. Fortunately I came to a deal with them as it was basically the same info again so I just dropped it in with the photocopies I had taken of the other form and they signed it for me, I just had to go in and see a nurse to get my blood pressure read for the sheet.

If I hadn't have had the photocopies I would have had to pay again and also see a doctor again, which wasn't possible as they are booked up until after I leave anyway!

Oh my goodness, I cant believe that some of you have had to pay as much as £90 for your medical form to be filled in, that's absoulutely ridiculous. My doctor did mine for free, took it in on a Monday and got it back the following thursdayx
