Nikon coolpix, http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... ENIKON.htm

i like it cause it's aluminium casing so it's tough, but light.
I had it narrowed down to that one and a Samsung one, but they looked exactly the same but the samsung was made from plastic.

Yea, if your Camp is near a mall which has a Best Buy, I'd wait a get one there...Cause prices in the States are always far more compeitive than us! Its just how it is! I'm gonna get myself a new DSLR pre-camp this yr :)

Nikon is the best out of the bunch in your poll but Canon are known to have the best lens! Sony are now entering the DSLR market in a big way and not to be ignored, I've found their cams to focus seconds quicker than others!

:D
Yep, as far as i'm aware, if the sound doesn't come out when you play back on the camera, then there will most definitely be sound when you upload it. :)

Thanks Rory, yeah, my DSLR is Sony, and I prefer working with that more than I like working with Nikon DSLR's, but then hear Nikon do great compacts..ahhh man, think I might buy a couple of disposables, and see what they have at the wal-mart etc, then if they don't have anything I want i'll get my mum to buy the Nikon and send it over :D Or I might go look on Best-Buy/Wal-Mart sites and see what they're like, then get one sent to camp or get it sent to someone's house over there (i'm in contact with a few americans) and get them to take it too camp. :)

Ramble ramble ramble. I know :P

My sony DSLR is an Alpha. It's only the a200, which by DSLR standards is fairly crappy, but I adore it. I use and abuse it mind you, as I have a 2-year-old and I've kind of become the unofficial photographer for the rugby club where I work, so my camera is often a little bit muddy and slightly damp with cider. Not good. I'm being brave and taking it to camp with me this summer, alongside my compact (which is a Sanyo VPC S1275, and purple! It also takes such good pictures for a compact that I use it as an 8mp even though it is capable of 12. It cost me $119 from walmart last July. My only complaint is that it eats batteries like they're going out of fashion unless you get the expensive high performance ones.)

Yea Sony bought over Minolta recently so they entering the market with the big boys of DSLR - Canon n Nikon...The only real problem is choice...and with so many choices it can be hard and confusing finding the best model for your needs. If your not an expert, the new Jessop catologue breaks down all the jargon really well and explains all the shorthands. If you don't want to spend loads on a DSLR but want an awesome camera, the Bridge models are a good bet. There are some awesome ones out there that are full of cool features. Like this lil ditty

You can find it cheaper...
