our cartaker came down to the waterfront to remove a watersnake....not good to have them swimming near the kids. and it was sat on the beach. he grabbed a kyak paddle and sliced the snake in half with the blade!! and then threw it in the bush!

in our lake we havent got leeches...well not seen any in the last 5 years. but there are watersnakes which apparenlty could break your ankle! they're constrictors.

Oh, I REALLY didn't need to know that.

One of my OPC kids saw the snake first, and then of course told the others in our groups - though we tried to get him not to. Then ofcourse they told the next group...

I didn't like that thunderstorm much - it was so wet! And it would have been a really awesome day without it. Although I did kinda have fun when we were all gather in longhouse singing for what felt like hours!

As much as I though I'd freak out about the snakes I had a weird sort of 'ooooo look' fascination with them - except the water ones!

We only really had grass snakes, and they were tiny. We had more issues with chipmunks...we had couches in our cabin in a big common area, and they live there the months that we're not at camp. So when we moved in we disturbed them...my co woke up one morning with one sitting on her, it was hilarious. We just chased them with brooms...

Ugh, ditto on hating skunks. I like most animals but skunks...just gross. We used to drive by where a skunk had obviously sprayed and we could still smell it, even a good mile away!

One of the few things I'm not looking forward to seeing again...

Oooh i've always wanted a corn snake as a pet! It's those and rat snakes (the black ones) that are ok and not venomous. Copperheads and Cottonmouths on the other hand....
