Camp America participants will automatically gain access to the forum when they reach the Ready To Place status. Until then, the forum and its contents are read only. When an applicant reaches the RTP stage, accessing the Participant Zone will automatically create a forum login and users can begin posting and replying to forum content.

That sounds horrible!
What have CA said about this? (I'm assuming you called them.) Aren't there people who went with CA there who went last year? You would have thought they would mention things like that.
Hope you can get something else sorted out for you.
