I personally prefer rucksacks - I find them easier to carry around. Make sure you get it fitted properly in the shop before you buy it. Then you can just sling it on your back, buckle up the straps and away you go :) No struggling with a heavy suitcase on the stairs :) They're also easier for storing at camp because they can fold down flat and get stuffed in a cupboard or under your bed :)

I prefer suitcases just cause I find them easier to live out of.. just unzip and you can pretty much see everything that's inside. I have visions of me having to empty a rucksack to find stuff thats at the bottom of it lol

Yeah, that is a down side to rucksacks. But when I was at camp last year we had big plastic boxes with lids to keep everything in which was much easier. We got the kids to decorate the lids with marker pens :) I was sad that I couldn't bring mine home!

If you get a backpack make sure you go to a proper camping shop like Blacks, Millets, Snow and Rock etc so that you can get it fitted/adjusted to you. My sister got a new Osprey one from Snow and Rock - they actually mold the hip/waist belt to your shape! Also think about whether you want a top loading or more suitcase type opening.

My backpack isn't big enough to fit two weeks worth of clothes in, so I'll probably take a roller holdall - it's a good combination - you've got wheels so don't have to lug it around, but it's squidgy like a backpack so folds down flat :) I've managed to lug holdalls/cases up to my third floor flat at uni so will be fine with any stairs. But I probably won't have much time to travel anyway.

Yeah, if you go into a good camping shop like Blacks then they will make sure it's right for your height and isn't going to hurt your back :)

It wouldn't hurt to have something prepared - you can always get stuff you're likely to wear anyway.

I'm personally a holdall person. I feel it has the suitcase feel as everything is laid out infront of you when you open it, but it also has the rucksack feel in that when its empty you can fold it down. My holdall has wheels too so it's easy to get around :)

You can check out the participants page for now - while you're there --> insurance. Perhaps something appears on CAD once we're placed?
