Post !Money!
Right, so I've got just over a week left to go before I head out to camp and well...All my money is still in £'s!!! I'm really stuck for how to take it over. I wanted to open up a bank account with Nationwide and use a debit card over there, taking some in cash. However, I can't get an account with them as I'm only 18 and have no credit history and it's too late for me just to get a cash card account, gutted.
I'm taking about £1800 with me.....how am I suppose to take it?! :shock: :cry:
Any1 got any advise on how they usually take their money?
Thanks guys!

I got a cash passport which basically the same as the post office travel money card but from Thomas Cook - the biggest difference being that while the PO charge you £10 for the card the thomas cook one is free!

i got a thomas cook one too!! it means that people at home can reload it for u if need be and it only costs $2.50 to withdraw from an atm. Takes 20mins to get it and i got 2 cards so if i loose one i have a spare so dont have to wait for a new one to be sent!

I'm taking a mix of all three;

a FairFX card for online / train / plane purchases I might need to make.
Mostly travellers cheques (insured, etc)
And a lump of cash.

I'd really recommend the FairFX card if you can get it in time; It has a high exchange rate (higher than currency) and if you put more than £500 its free.

Hey laura did i mention last night that the post office do a card you can take with you which your parents or friends can top up if you do run out of cash.

All the withdrawels are free and it just works like a visa card!!

Plus dnt forget my hat :)

im taking travellers cheqs, bout £1000 in cheqs, then bout $200 in cash. then ill have my debit card with bout a £1000 in and an emergency credit card with £1000 in. (cards to use for online like buses, trains, hostels etc).

and also if i need more cash ill just withdraw from atm but wont withdraw like $20 a day like i would at home - it will cost loads, so best to withdraw quite large amounts at a time - although not so safe, but if ur in a hostel - there maybe a safe to put the spare cash into!?! (hopefully!)
